Internalisation of power structure

What are the management tools which attack internalisation of power structure? If not, why management tools are not taking internalisation seriously?

Management itself means distribution of resources in most optimum way, this means there is no part of the structure that has access and there is no part of the structure that has lack of resources. But usually we find that management is person driven, that is resources are managed in such a way that it benefits a person or a group of people. The gives rise to power system with more resourceful becoming more powerful. Rather a more holistic approach should be taken so that maximum benefit can be reaped by everyone.

Certain way of doing things or the way things should happen get imbibed in a person’s thinking which gets exhibited in the behavior and actions undertaken by the person. This process is called internalization. Internalised emotions lead to the subconscious actions. Liberating fears, as a management tool can be used to tackle internalization.

Internalization is process of getting instilled specific beliefs to the core of the individual’s thinking. For example, the oppressed will assume that he has to act as an oppressor after gaining that position. This can be viewed as a sadistic outcome from the “oppressed turned oppressor”. Changing things from the root (say the oppressor) can create an ambience where this internalization problem would not manifest itself further.

Internalisation is embedding certain norms , value by an individual and exhibiting it in behaviour and activities. A oppressed labor raised to the post of leader will act as an oppressor as his/her job demand this from the leader. the leader has internalised the self contradiction between his duties and his moral responsibilities. After some time the leader start enjoying the position and hence the sense of self contradiction.

Democratic structure relies on moral involvement which means internalization of norms and identification with authority. Management tools that can be used to attack internalisation could be strategic planning, making a hostile environment not conducive for these things to prosper. Sometimes, they do not take it seriously, as the management sometimes believe in distribution of equitable resources in an efficient way, such that it benefits maximum number of people.

Internalization is the process of imbibing norms, belifs from individual or group by individuals or groups. Internalization, in general leads to self contradiction. It will aspire the oppressed to become oppressor and hence oppress further to aspire other to become oppressor.
Management tools like imbibing relevant knowledge and providing better platform to help oppressed, identifying the root cause of problems and looking towards optimum solution with involvement of oppressed in decision making, can be seen as few tools which attack internalisation of power structure.

Internalization can lead to undesired consequences. Management tools like transforming an individual from within and instilling the realization in a person can help mitigate this problem. Its all about making people aware that they have been following the long path so that they change from the "existing" to "what they should be."

The phenomena of internalization of power structure can be explained in this way. A person from the oppressed becomes the leader after fighting with the oppressor. That person thinks that he will do activities for the betterment of oppressed people. But gradually the internalization happens that the person thinks that the oppressor leader’s way of doing things was good. So he thinks that he should be like that of oppressor leader. Attacking of this internalization will give rise to the real change. There will be conflicting thoughts of enjoying power and not doing expected things.

Internalisation is a process of instilling certain beliefs and norms in an individual's thinking. If we talk about power structure,an oppressed always thinks of getting power so that he could act differently than the oppressor does. But, in this process if he gets power and began to behave like an oppressor subconsciously, conflicts arise in his mind that whether his act is justified and morally correct. And after certain time, his internal conflicts and doubts get subsumed and he enjoys his power and position.

Power is the key feature to run the society or organization. What we see around us that become part of our life. For example if somebody is powerful then he will be oppressor and he will oppressed the others. Once who is oppressed today get the power then he will try to oppress others more than he was oppressed. This is inheritance of power and the management tools do not take it seriously because sometimes it is the key concept to manage the organization.

Inteernalisation of power structure can vary from person to person depending on the values, beliefs, sense of responsibilities and duties that a person carries with himself. Understanding of the reason for which the person was made a leader in a way can reduce internalisation of power structure.

Internalization is the learning (of values or attitudes etc.) that is incorporated within you. Now, management has got various tools to counter internalization. Optimal usage, strategy, innovation, planning, etc. are few of the examples. What happens is that the oppressed, when comes in the position of the oppressor, he himself becomes an oppressor and that too of a higher degree. This phenomenon might be the way to manage the organization and that is why it is not attacked.

Internalization is the process of inheriting certain norms and beliefs by the people from their surroundings. Thus a person who has been oppressed for long reverts back by oppressing others when he gains power. Efficient management tools of attacking this internalization of power structure would include trying to help out the oppressed by providing them with an opportunity to speak and share their views. Also trying to find the solution to the problem could help attack the internalization of power structure.

Internalization is the process of incorporating some beliefs, norms within oneself. Internalized emotions and behavior may lead to some undesirable actions. Uneven distribution of resource and power create two category of people, one as oppressor another as oppressed. Oppressed people want to become as oppressor and they will try to do the same thing what was happened to him when they were oppressed. Equal distribution of resources and power may help in mitigating the internalization process.

Internalisation of power can happen when there is selective dispersion of information or maybe when the important responsibilities gets vested in one or few individuals. The others have access to incomplete information and are expected to complete only the unimportant tasks.
Such a situation can be avoided by changing the structure of the power sources. Information, which forms an important means to internalize power, can also be made available by increasing porosity. The broad outlook that management tools provide will make people look at things from different angles with varied solutions, which will stop the monopolization of strategy centre.

The focus on production centered approach has greatly led to internalisation of power in management. Managers assume a coercive role to meet their ends. The tools like Participatory research techniques help to break down this internalisation of power and bring people to a common platform where their relationship is more of interdependence than dichotomous. The approach of management should be more human centric for long run effectiveness.

Internalisation refers to the subconscious imbibition of norms, values, beliefs and experiences as an individual. Management tools of collective action study, strategy, planning and risk taking may help to overcome the barrier. However, very often we fail to apply it because these tools are not 'absorbed' within and we dont accept it as a part of own (subconscious).
We must believe...'the way is long let us walk together;
the way is long let us help each other'

The way life shapes around us and the way the culture and norms are inherited into us is what internalization is. What basically happens is, when anyone in the oppressed position gets the chance to be at the top, at the position where he has the power to oppress others, the person would cease to empathise with people who are in a position to be oppressed. This way the person internalizes the self contradiction. However, basically the realization and the moral learning can change things around. Efficient management tools could be the empowerment of people who have chosen the leader.

All of us have internalised societal norms . Sadly, most of the times we keep following them despite of them being oppressive. We abhor the oppressor but at the same time want to be like them.that is because we cannot think of power without relating it to others.management tools have not given enough importance to this process and thus despite of efforts towards equality in society nothing substantial has happened.

The transformations form 1970’s and 80’s to the current scenario have witnessed a sharp change in the ideology. The socialist dream is perceived as orthodox view; monetary gains have taken its place. Education is being judged on the basis of return of investment and it is getting commercialized as we progress. Education for “liberation” is turning into a means of improving the standard of living through economic gains.

Internalization is learning (of values or attitudes etc.) that is incorporated within ourselves. Management education is a process through which we go and we are supposed to come out as a person who has internalized things which were taught to him/her. But, do all these management schools teach values which need to be internalized still remains a question. Most of the management schools are governed by economical peasants, while the values which need to be internalize are governed by moral peasants, which is a distant dream for management schools.
