REDEMPTION THROUGH ART

The Eleventh rule of ethics says that any goal must be presented in euphemistic and sugar-coated words like liberty, equality etc. One good example would be the full name of China.... 'The People's Republic Of China'. It is heartening to know China belongs to its people at least in name.
The same principle is applied through Glorifying Art which is used by governments and parties to portray leaders to facilitate their political goals. I present to you the two biggest mass-killers in history at their pictorial best.....

FIFTH RULE OF ETHICS

It states that-Concern with ethics increases with the number of means available and vice versa. the simplest of the meanings signify that when we have only a single option then we are bound to pursue it whether ethical or not. for eg. when a person is alone and is attacked or is faced with some serious problems and is left with only a single option of violent means or hitting the way out then he follows this option without thinking of the consequences,DOES ETHICS HERE REALLY TAKE A BACKSEAT??

All means are fair in war??

The third rule of ethics of means and ends is that in war the end justifies almost any means. What actually is a war? What would be its definition? Most of us would be tempted to justify any means we take up in any circumstances and call the situation a war.
Similarly, the tenth rule of ethics of means and end says that you do what you can with what you have and clothe it in moral garments.
I think these rules depict the general human behaviour and response in response to different situations where their ethics are questioned.

Do what you have to and clothe it in moral garments!!

Those in power always try to show their position as a moral high stand even if their argument is completely hollow. Prior to the Iraq war the weapons inspector Hans Blix and his team tried to find the WMD in every nook and corner of Iraq but could not find even a trace of them. Ignoring this a war on Iraq was waged on the argument that it had WMDs and Saddam Hussain and Bath party we guilty of genocide of Kurds. Everybody now knows that the war was based on the greed of what we call liquid gold.

Oceans, Air as Common property and Carbon Rating as CPRM tool.

Oceans and Air are common property resources shared across nations. My first taste to the common property resource problem was during my visit to Kutch in Gujarat,India. Sea has been the only source of livelihood for the 10,000 fishermen across Kutch coastline. But the onslaught of industrialization has put immense pressure on this resource. Water is being rapidly extracted on the name of development. It is claimed that this development will benefit the masses. The question that arises is how can we possibly restrict the use of this resource - which is open, with unlimited access. Who should be the users of this resource - fishermen, government or corporate groups. Or maybe on what basis can we restrict /divide its use? A similar situation arises with industries that pollute air in the name of development and growth. On the international arena, carbon credit ratings seem to be one way of common property resource management. But there is still miles to go to implement it in true spirit. We also need to think how do we better manage oceans nationally and internationally.

THE SUCCESS OF BANAS CO-OPERATIVE (PART-2)

The other major reason which I believe for the success of the Banas is the dominance of one caste from the topmost post to the lowest in hierarchy. You might be thinking how it is possible?

The point is when only one caste dominates the co-operative and that too which is dominant in population of the district, there is almost no case of undue advantage given to any individual on the basis of his caste. And it directly promotes the professionalism in the organization which directly affects the efficiency. And members from other caste also participate in the co-operative very professionally without complaining about the power distribution.

To be or not to be ? that is (still) the question..

So now we know that prince Hamlet wasn't the only person faced with this dilemma .. don't we all face this question at some point of time in our lives ? Wise is he, who gets not jubilated at the pinnacle of his achievements neither dejected at the nadir. To 'have' ,then, is an illusion penned beautifully by Harivansh Rai Bacchan in his immortal poem"Jo Beet Gayi so Baat Gayi..". And that " half naked fakir" of India wasn't wrong too when he asked us to be the change that we want to see(or should I say 'HAVE' :-P ) in the world ,change thus will be ours !!
