Those in power always try to show their position as a moral high stand even if their argument is completely hollow. Prior to the Iraq war the weapons inspector Hans Blix and his team tried to find the WMD in every nook and corner of Iraq but could not find even a trace of them. Ignoring this a war on Iraq was waged on the argument that it had WMDs and Saddam Hussain and Bath party we guilty of genocide of Kurds. Everybody now knows that the war was based on the greed of what we call liquid gold.

It was not only the oil but the "military strategic points",that have attracted super powers for such actions.
Since the cold-war Russia and US have made different strategic bases in Indian and Pacific ocean to control the growing power of China,Japan and other countries.
So,not only the economy but military strategic points to counter the opposition have developed this situation.
If we talk about the economy,then Japan is the nation,which is one of the most wealthiest nations in the world,but it has not developed so much military power that China,North-korea or Israel have developed.
war oF USA or for that matter any powerful country over a weaker one is not called for..but such misadventures can be culled by precise and effective collective actions by other countries and stop the atrocity..they can mobilise collective support from more powerful countries and thus stop these so called imperialists from succeeding in their nefarious designs of self interests in oil, gold, weapons etc
talking in economic terms, when Iraq wanted to trade oil in euro, US had to do something for maintaining the strength of its Dollar.. and ofcouse claiming to find WMD was clothing it in moral garments..
