United Nations:Collective actions of the nations after the Second World War

United Nations was founded in 1945 after the second world war.Its primary aim at that time was to stop the wars between different nations. At present,192 nations are its members.
On many issues,it has failed to deliver. But,on many front it has created an environment and platform to sort out differences between the nations.During the cold-war,vietnam-war,philistine-Israel conflict,Cuban-missile conflicts and on many other occassions it has delivered.
Although it still has the "expansion" and "dominance of US " issues, but in some peace-keeping and developmental works,it has performed very well.
Last year after Copenhegan summit,Ban-ki-moon,present secretary-general of UN said-"Collective action is the only effective action......UN has acted on it.....and would act upon it in the future also."
