Riots, which are the forms of collective action, is an index of general unrest in the society. The riot crowd, most of the times exhibit violent behaviour, destructing the civil people peace & harmony along with damaging public/private property. In the context of our country, most of the riots broken out on communal issues. For examples, Mumbai riots, Bhagalpur riots, Godhra riots and riots in Punjab, which disturbed the harmony between communities and also damaged Government property at that time. Riots also spread very rapidly due to the collective opposing behaviour shown by the people.
