We indians are living in a secular state. It's not so-called republicans of China, where its founder Mao quoted religion as Charas. We have the freedom of expression, granted by our constitution. On this blog also, where people are talking about Hitler,Stalin and other dictators and are justifying their deeds,if any one talked about collective actions of RAMA and KRISHNA,then what is the wrong in it? Why an atheist do not see at least the symbolic meaning of collective actions explained in the mythology and its vast impact on the society?Do you disagree that a large section of the society knows and follows(in least term,if you say)Ramayana and Mahabharta.Do you know that Ramcharitmanas and Pachtantra are the largest selling books in even the present day of globalisation?
Thats the challenge to our democracy..To make the voices of "lesser Gods" ,heard .. but am not sure if we are fulfilling the promise we made at the "tryst with destiny".
It was Marx not Mao who said " Religion is the opiate of the masses".He was from Germany not China. Ramacharitmanas is a narrative of a self confessed Ram admirer. So, factual validity can be doubted. There are many more forms of Ramayanas existent in the world. Whatsmore, even Valmiki's Ramayan is less flattering in its description of "lord Ram". Of course, relevant stories of collective actions from any source can be discussed. Provided they are in context. *Panchtantra has nothing to do with Hindu mythology.
@UPHAR, Diverting the issue would not make you right.Yes,it is true that Marx told that religion was like a opium. But,at the same time,Mao had almost the same view that RELIGION WAS THE POISON. Here facts are not so important as the view is. Many people knows that Ramayayana was written in many languages by many authors. So,what you want to say? What I am saying is that the story of Ramayana is known to many hindus in one form or another. Panchtantra is also a part of Hindu mythology contating short stories based on Hindu precedence and norms. And,Hinduism donot need any new definition from an atheist.
AND,THE MAJOR PART OF MY QUESTION YOU DIDNOT ANSWERED- Why an atheist do not see at least the symbolic meaning of collective actions explained in the mythology and its vast impact on the society?
sir, I have no authority whatsoever. This is my blog link. The topic was introduced ny me. I am not even stopping you from writing. I also write sometimes. How does that make me hinder someone's freedom??? Please feel free to write. I dont have any authority to stop you. I wouldnt have stopped you even if I had the authority. Panchatantra has nothing to do with Hindu mythology. There must be many other examples of collective action for an atheist to see for him not to see the examples mentioned in the religious texts. i am not sure bcause I cant truly say I am an atheist.
