Rama, Krishna and Collective Action

I have liitle knowledge and even lesser belief in mythology. These mythological figures might have created a collective action in the distant past if ever ? I live in present and I would like to talk aboiut the effect of these revered figures on the psyche of the people and the kind of collective action taking place in their name. Some not so pious examples :
1. Ayodhya movement and demolition of Babari Structure.
2. Genocide in Gujarat.
3. Riots against christians in Orissa.
4. Proliferation of chauvinist forces like Ram Sene etc...
I do not find the courage nor the inclination to look in the past to search for the glorious examples of collective action by Gods.

I think, in the present times, the unfortunate events which have found its mention here, along with many other events are due to forces beyond the belief of people in these revered figures. They have just become a means used by some smart people(read politicians) to achieve their own personal ambitions! The faith and belief of people in these deities have been used as an emotional way to fool people. So, other forces rather than these revered figures are responsible for the collective actions in those events.
