where are u o lord !!!

It is considered an affront to raise objections against anything that religion touches or casts its shadow on. You are as good as a blasphemer. Atheists are tolerated as long as they are silent. So are the devouts who keep criticism to themselves and muzzle themselves. Not long back faith that made the airwaves was should the Sethusamundaram project be undertaken or not? There are 2 groups opposing it. One is led by ecologists and environmentalists. They oppose this herculean task that will construct a bridge and connect India and Sri Lanka due to various factors that can be taken as evincing from genuine human interest. The other is led by political parties led by the BJP who say that the current project will damage the ancient bridge constructed by the Lord’s army some 17 thousand years ago or something extravagant like that.

Did Lord Ram exist? Who is Lord Ram one can ask, as a lot of them – government agencies, archaeological department etc are asking. My question is this - Who is Lord Ram who on a regular basis…once every 10 years or so comes like Hurrican Katrina and makes waste of common sense, humanity, logic and other such trivia?

To begin with – Lord Ram is the beloved God of most of northern India other than South India. The ruling party of Tamil Nadu, the Indian state overseeing the construction of the bridge is DMK. Led by writer, poet and atheist Karunanidhi who posed some very entertaining questions – sample this - who is this Lord Ram? How did an army of monkeys construct this bridge over troubled waters? Where did Ram get his engineering degree from?

This has outraged the hell and heaven off the believers. How dare anyone ask WHO the good Lord is or was? Isn’t it understood, they ask. They also being experienced politicians have extended support to the ecologists. Now the work on the project has been stopped. Battle lines have been drawn. Faith vs Science. Where is Lord Ram? Is it sheer coincidence that we show our collective action only when it comes to defending our religion or region?

The question here is, Is it really a collective action or just that some people have their vested interest in such projects and therefore they take such stands. The question which I would like to raise is that do we call a action collective only when a group of people come together and fight against anything, whether it is good or bad, or there are bigger goals (which benefits the complete society directly or indirectly and not just a particular religion or region)which are to be acheived.

Hello my dear friend, you have presented your thoughts very well.
about the existence of lord RAMA and other gods. if we look at our religious believes, all of us believe/worship god. There are number of people who ask very often what is god? who is god? who has seen him? In present scenario we don't get answer so we make mistake of challenging the existence of god. We were in technical courses in our graduation, now we are in management, we are becoming modern and neglecting our cultural or historical believes. Let me remind you in science a theory is proposed on some hypothesis and on the basis of some events. Let's go back to the time of RAMA when he build the bridge over sea. We've very advanced technologies at present, even then whenever we see any historical places, which are linked with some cultural believes, we look at it with open mouth, even some times, science fails to explain the reason.

We learn about our family tree or family history from our parents, just like that we've got information about lord RAMA, lord KRISHNA and many more, and we believe them.

Look at the construction of RAMASETU , in the history this kind of construction was not feasible technically, so we used to call them magic. So we believe there were some supernatural powers. That is why believe in GOD.

Probably some of my friends will doubt the BATTLE OF MAHABHARAT also.It is a very beautiful example of that war on which "GEETA" has been written. Even science now believes in the existence of "KURUKSHETRA WAR of MAHABHARAT".We know that getting a BRAHMASTRA from BRAHMA was very difficult. Getting an AGNEYASTRA from BRAMHA was difficult because these weapons were very harmful and only responsible people were eligible to use that. Science says something happened in kurukshetra ,long time back, that is why it is dessert and not much fertile. My Dear friend all these weapons were used in MAHABHARAT, as our history says. Now look at present all the environmental conditions of kurukshetra is not much different from HIROSHIMA and NAGASAKI(Where Nuclear Bombs were used). Agneyastra is nothing but a HYDROGEN BOND, Brahmastra is nothing but a NUCLEAR BOMB. When there are high correlations, how can we neglect the knowledge or information of our ancestors that is passed on to us.

There are number of people who don't want to loose their RAMASETU. It may seem a political stunt to some, but behind this protest some people have their believes, which we can not ignore at least in this country
