Individuals can make a difference!!!

Individuals can make a big difference through their little action which triggers a mass co-operative action. I will like to discuss CJ(citizen journalist)program initialed by cnn-ibn(TV 18 group) in which citizens come up with their reports on cnn-ibn. This makes a great impact on our society and many issues relating to it. Recently one of the CJ came up with a report on Gayatri Devi, a 90 year old freedom fighter from Bihar. She was denied of any government benefits and was struggling in New Delhi for her rights. Due to CJ initiatives not only Delhi government has to come forward but also many citizens came up with help.

this is definitely true that the power of an individual cannot ever be underestimated. If we look at the history of major collective actions, it has in majority of the cases been an individual who has shown way, convinced and motivated a wider audience to understand the need for collective action eg Sunderlal Bahuguna in Chipko Movenment, Subhash C Bose in forming the INA, etc.
Even in cases of co-operatives it has been mentioned in the readings that it is an outside(exogenous) agent with almost alturistic motives who undertakes the task of orgainzing the low income groups into a co-operative.

Big changes have been brought by many individuals be it Gandhi, Nehru or other freedom fighter who inspired a mass to come forward for a collective action and behave accordingly. The social movements and other revolutions are the results of those initiatives which resulted in our independence from British. Often people do not come forward because of individuality and therefore society must promote individualism for bringing good changes in the society with the passage of time.
