rebellion and revolutions!!!!!

whether it is a riot or rebellion or a revolution, all of them are ways of showing protest or public unrest. The common uniting factor among all of these is that they are violent forms of collective action. the question that lingers my mind is how do we differentiate among these different forms of unrest except?????????where is the demarcating line which tells us whether this is a rebellion or a revolution........and what is the point of origin of any of these outbreaks or outburst?????

The point of origin of riots, rebellions and revolutions may or may not be same. Say, in a colony, drinking water taps go dry frequently and that too during summer. To show their dis-satisfaction, colony dwellers stage protest outside the corporation building and they also damage the Govt. property and police firing also happens. This is 'riot'. People also disperse after this riot.
Even other colony dwellers also face the same situation and these people co-operate and persistently try to overthrow the concerned the officials of the government department itself, then it's a 'rebellion'.(here, it might be on a smaller scale).
But on the other hand, people are generally not happy with the govt. system not only due to this water issue but also due to other issues and all the concerned groups join hands to make a much much bigger one and if they make attempts to change the entire social structure, then it's a 'revolution'.
This is what i think of and correct me if i'm wrong somewhere.
