Biodegradable waste used as fertilizer!!!

I would like to suggest a remedy for the collection of garbage. It is being implemented in many cities. Wet garbage or the biodegradable garbage is a big menace and every household produces it on a large scale, much of it goes to the dustbins and is therefore wasted. This garbage can be stored in big steel tins and when some worms are put in it. Their excreta can be used as a fertilizer. Actually the biodegradable fertilizers about which we hear are produced in this way. So they can be produced in our households or collectively in our apartments .This fertilizer is extremely healthy for all kinds of plantations. This is getting implemented in many cities but on an individual level.
If done collectively it will solve two problems at a time.

This idea can only be implemented if everyone realizes the importance of the waste management. But someone has to start and its best to stat from us only.
when one talk of its implementation on large scale, one has to keep in mind that the non biodegradable waste redressal mechanism has to come along with the idea mentioned in the blog.
hope u would appreciate to think on those lines.

What you speak of is true, and that you justify the mode of action being on an individual level in many cities today highlights the fact that the idea could not be adapted on a commercial front when facing an urban settlement. A change through a collective mode of action would mean innovation and modification of the concept to actually make it work on a scale. As an example, the community could begin with waste segregation (right from the household level),set up a collection centre and use the concept of composting. To improve and increase productivity: methane, produced from the waste undergoing fermentation can be tapped.

ya i completely agree with rakshit's point. This is one of the ideas which can be best implemented by collective action.More involvement means more garbage and fertilizers produced. So in a way this activity can only be succesful when done on community basis(collectively)..
