an example of Collective Action & Co-operation from a Bihar village

This is the story from Shekhwara village of Gaya District in Bihar where women of Self Help Groups (SHGs) have taken the management of a Public Distribution System (PDS) shop in their own hands through their Village Organisation (VO). Thereby again proving the power of collective action and co-operation. Not only this, they also ensured that the black-marketer dealer lands in jail. All this is worth mentioning because they have achieved this feat without greasing the hands of corrupt officials or politicians.
The moral of the story is "IF people act collectively with co-operation, they can even achieve the otherwise unachievable".

It would be a learning example if you could share the difficulties faced by the Village Organisation in 'coming together' to manage the PDS and methods they used to obercome those difficulties..
