Rationally Irrational

Sony sir talked about being rational. Our class too talked a great deal about being rational. I know everybody says “I THINK THEREFORE I EXIST”

In this regard I want to raise a question that is it not true that sometime we rationally do irrational behaviour. A father takes a slap from his 2 year kid and enjoys! A old grandmother of 80+ is a liability to family. She has no economic utility. But we worship her!

I think here there is a difference between the so called western way and OUR way.

What you all have to say guys????

There is definitely a big difference to western way and our way. We all know what is the difference. But to add to what is already said, I think that it is slowly becoming a critical issue that we are on the path that west has already walked through. We are seeing the first symptoms of "west" way in form of nuclear families, increasing old age homes, increasing family disputes(father-son, brother-brother,cousins etc.), increasing number of divorce cases etc. Just the way Helena Norberg-Hodge expressed this concern, I also strongly feel that if something is not done at this stage.... it will be soon that we see East is West!

thats the indian way of showing we care...being rational is one thing but there has to be a line drawn where in we have some emotional quotient attached to the relations we have.....this is why the indian culture and tradition is so much revered worldwide..though it is getting eroded by the day but still its worth following because that is what helps us get attached to our grassroots..i suppose u will agree to it....?
