In the village Bhadreswar where I completed my fieldwork, there was a violent agitation against the proposed OPG power plant. The local Wagher Community is predominately engaged in fishing for last many generations. But after the establishment of the power plant in the region they will be left with no option other than to leave fishing and to migrate from the village.
After the approval of the power plant in the village, they have been regularly opposing it in the court and on various other platforms. The case is still going on but now they are slowly losing because of the conduct of the government in this matter. Nobody is ready to listen to them…………………….so will it be wrong for them to die fighting for their cause?????
