Is there scope for Women's Participation?

Before anyone jumps to a conclusion on the ‘unsuccessful’ experiment of deploying women soldiers in Iraq, I would like them to see the other side of being a woman soldier in the US army:http://www.salon.com/news/feature/2007/03/07/women_in_military/

This article describes the horrific conditions these women had to face everyday of their war-posting, because of numerous cases of sexual abuse of women by their own colleague soldiers, that it saddens to see how 'ahimsa' as the 'infinite-capacity-for-suffering' is being redefined. How can women complement men when they don’t even get honest opportunities for the same?I don’t know whether men and women are equal or not;atleast their degrees of suffering do not seem2 match.
