Communication skill and leadership in Indian context

Communication skill is said to be a dominant factor for becoming a good leader. But,Bose and Nehru were better speaker than Mahatma,Indira was a better speaker than JP,Amar Singh and Shivanand Tiwari are better speakers than Mulayam and Nitish....But,these good communicators never went ahead of their "supremo"......

What are the causes that made Mahatma,JP,Lalu-Mulayam-Nitish......a mass leader?

First we need to define what is 'good communication skill'? A person can be said to be having good communication skills if he is able to convey his feelings effectively to the masses. Whatever language or accent he uses, if the leader conveys his feelings and that is well-received by the mass then he becomes successful. For this it is not mandatory that he speaks in a sophisticated manner.

their ability to connect with the crowd made them stand out. Language is only a medium, the message delivered is of utmost importance.

Communication skill I suppose is the most important virtue of a good leader. But, apart from communication skills, there are many other skills that a leader need to possess to be successful.

Contributions of the above mentioned leaders and the public respect garnered by them is undoubtedly far greater than their predecessors mentioned here!
