Do we really need Leadership???

We are so obsessed with the term leadership and leaders that never ever we thought that is it necessary to have a leader. Leadership as it’s seems to be a collective word but doesn’t it sound individualistic, even we consider it in terms of others. Most of the time, just following the individual for the sake of one or other reasons.
Every time we talk about leaders and leadership, don’t we play a divisive politics? Doesn’t it divide an individual leader from their petty followers?

Then what should be the answer???

Community ship, isn’t it???

The term 'leader' may sound individualistic as in any movement or field only one person can become leader at a time. But isn't it essential to have a leader? Because if we don't have anybody to regulate or guide men, even the ablest men may loose their way.

Now the question arises who guides the leader? Its the constitution, the rules and regulations, etc which guide him. In a democracy people 'guide' him.

Leaders are the ones who emerge out of the collective in the sense they are the ones who will guide the people in the group and this in turn will benefit the whole group. He is the who stands out but is still with the group. So its necessary for the group to have a leader who can guide them and thus the group can progress towards the goal.Absence of a good leader leads to group failure.

@ Shashvat & Richa: Why We always look towards some one for direction. Can't we collectively take a decision without leader? Can't we take insipartion from SHGs which take decision collectively without any leader?

First you have doubt that is leadership divides between leader and followers? Yes if you want to classify people it can be done in aforesaid manner but at the same time we should consider that a leader takes his own voices from these followers itself. So actually it is not divisive in nature but more like coordinating and representative. Secondly if we talk about decision making also a leader only initiates and coordinates the happenings and group takes the further undertakings.

A leader is not always the one who takes decisions for you, a leader can also be a post like the President Of India who is reffered to as a mere rubber stamp with no powers.
And more than often a leader is needed not to dictate terms but to communicate to the outside world what the community feels or decides..
