An initiative in CPR management

Aslali gram panchyat had spent Rs 594,000 on plantation; earning Rs 3,853,000 from it (ToI dated Feb 4, 2010). This is an example of successful common property resource management. The panchyat decided and allocated the land to be used .The revenue generated was used to develop basic amenities as well as further sustenance of the plantation. It created employment opportunities besides provision for firewood, fodder and other requirements. Thus the benefits seem to have been appropriated according to some arrangement. Also certain restrictions in all likelihood seem to have been imposed with respect to the access to the resource.

Yes, Panchayati Raj institution at village level are promoting collective action, in this way or that way. There are some examples where peoples are cooperating for some common problem and working for solution. At village Ghuri, villagers are collectively promoted plantation since 5 years and now income generated is spended in village developement activities with common consensus...But initiation of this type of activities is difficult as to mobilize and convince the people, moreover it needed a good leader for initation...

NREGA has also contributed to CPR movement. The issue of initiation pointed out by Rameshwar is to an extent answered by NREGA. Activities carried out under NREGA include plantation of trees, building check dams, building common properties etc. All these also, I suppose can be considered under CPR management.
