People say India's Strength is it's Unity in Diversity. But highly succesful Co-ops have very homogenous composition . Does Only blood / caste bonds work ?
Like in Patels in Gujarat Milk Coops or Marathas in Sugar Coops .

very good thought. i feel tat even in cooperative societies, caste or creed plays a role to an extent. the society maytry to invlve people from their own community to strenghten as well as to quicken up the functionning as all come from the same community. may be the unity factor binds them to work collectively. At the same time, we do have cooperative societies with all kind of people and doing very well. So, i feel caste might not be really influencing the cooperative society's functionning to any greater extent.
caste and class plays a major role in collective action but it encircled by a homogeneous group.you said rightly that for a strong collective action same group like age, gender, caste, class etc.play vital role.
