Mob behaviour @ Riots -- how??????????

As we see riots are collective actions but in a very negative sense. We have to see that why common people who have nothing to do with the issue of riots, participate in this and what happens to their rationality at that time??Why emotions took away their humanity?? The answer is the hidden animosity buried in the hearts which is suppressed by social norms came out at the time of riots. Once you are a part of mob your identity is hidden and you feel that u can act without shame what u wanted to do but not be able to do because of your social image....

I believe that people who participate in riots have a lot to do with issue of riots. Say it is a Hindu- Muslim riots; the people are incensed so much by the leaders that they forget their rationality and become cold- blooded. Again, it can be considered as a collective action where people are all up in arms to defend what they think is right (or what they are forced to think is right by leaders).

Or simply, riots could be caused by goons of the leaders who want to spread hatred and violence.

People joining the collective actions such as riots may be led by the mob mentality or have their own reasons to participate.
The chance of mob mentality is more to attribute for their participation.
