Their(British) policy of divide n rule kept us as slaves for almost 250yrs.After spending a lot of blood and sweat we regained our freedom and dignity.now some politicians are trying to divide us on the basis of our religion, caste and now on regions. It is more unfortunate because these are our own people who are dividing us for their political gains.
I don't understand why we want to have difference between a marathi or a north Indian or any other citizen of this country?
why we are talking of only dividing ourselves?
Has the Indian democracy not matured enough to raise a collective voice against this conspiracy?

The divisive politics is just a propaganda to get attention and create a identity in a political sphere crowded with various players. The point is why the intelligentsia and the prominent personalities follow the diktats of these elements!one maxim is true in our democracy...when we are asked to bend we crawl!
We should not be so pessimistic. Things are changing now as now very less people support divisive politics. Be it two times defeat of BJP led NDA or one of its ally shiv sena who is out of power from long back. Regarding Marathi non marathi controversy Sachin Tendulkar a marathi himself called Mumbai of all Indians.
Politicians divide us on these issues to ide development issues and get into power. More and more people become non responsive to these issues, politicians will be compelled to stop this policy of divide
