COLLECTIVE ACTION IN BLOOD DONATION
Essential voluntary services like blood donation are considered more of a charity than a collective benefit venture. However, there can be cases wherein donated blood is used to generate profits by the so-called victims. This was a real-life incident which we faced when we started a voluntary donation camp for the needy in my hostel. However, the donated blood was sold by some of these victims to corporate hospitals thus making good profits. We decided to stop this activity by linking up with hospitals and personally donating the blood so that blood reaches the needy on the recommendation of the doctor concerned.

Don't you think Blood Donation is already a business venture with the mask of 'human cause' and 'charity'. There is a need for transparency and fairness in the entire process so that the donor can ensure that his blood reaches the needy.
Blood donation, which considered to be noble cause for humanity without any personal benifits. Some person try to make money out of it!!! . There is need to increase awareness about this noble cause. There is low turning of people instead of so many camp organised. Peoples even died due to non availablity of blood. Is this not putting quetion mark over the human society as a whole!!!
If sale of donated blood raises a question over humanity, than how can the sale of organs, bribing of doctors by medicine manufacturers and other heinous crimes be classified into?
I feel that just as two sides of a coin, this issue of blood donation also has other side. It is imperative that the negative aspect (sale of blood) is issued properly, so that such cases do not arise. The action carried out by Basanta was quite appreciable and may set a path for others to follow.
