Football Hoolinganism

Football hoolinganism is a mob action which includes brawls, vandalism and even excessive violent action. This has resulted in a lot of destruction, both of men and property, for a long time. Supporters of rival team engage in such behavior when the come with same set of ideology i.e. to intimidate each other's group.

The convergence theory explains this well. Even though people come with the same set of ideas, it just magnifies as the unruly crowd on either side catalyzes their behavior resulting in violence which even the police have found to be hard to deal with.
