Today's class basically talked about what qualities should be avoided in a leader...and surprisingly the list was long. Also, most of the leaders in today's scenario can identify with not just one but several of these characteristics.
The question is why does this situation emerge that we have leaders with so many avoidable qualities? Do most of us lack leadership quality that we do not rise to the occasion and try and change the leader if he possesses? How can bad leaders be avoided?
Why is it that even though we know that most of the political leaders around can be identified with one or several of these categories, the entire nation has not been able to get rid of them? Is it indifference and lack of endeavor or is it natural and acceptable that a leader has few bad qualities?

One reason for so many "avoidable leaders" emerging is the vacuum created due to absence of strong and effective leadership. Unscrupulous elements see this as an opportunity to further their interests by donning the role of a leader;enjoying all his powers and none of his responsibilities .
Nobody forces us to vote for these leaders. We all due to our own petty selfish interests vote for these leaders when they raise sectoral issues based on caste, region or religion.
Many times we give more importance to the emotional issues over develpomental issues.
this reminds me of the dialogue from RDB that " ghar ki safaai me haaath gande kaun kare?" without my own exception, the nation needs one whole generation to enter into the gutter of politics to clear it because a single person either gets cleared or becomes a part of the system. Now ques is whether we are so awakened that we can have such a situation?
Since everyone of us is affected directly or indirectly it will be better for us to clean this gutter.
Its better to make our hands one time dirty over life long getting affected by this gutter.
